We just wrapped up our second large scale project with Kat. We worked with Kat 6 years ago after buying a house on the Main Line while living in California. She helped us in "phase 1" of work that needed to be done, including renovating 2 bathrooms and changing several other cosmetic details in our 90+ year old house. She made this project so manageable for us from afar, we were so thankful to have found her. She had a great vision for our house, which we enjoyed for many years.
Fast forward 6 years, and we started "phase 2", a larger project we had envisioned for our house. This included putting an addition on. Knowing all of the decisions required for adding a kitchen, kids bathroom, laundry room and mudroom, my first call was to Kat. I knew I could rely on her for her timeless taste. She stays away from trends and chooses classic elements that play off our 1920s stone colonial and are functional for our young family.
From the idea phase to the execution phase, everything was communicated appropriately. I had no surprises, which is impressive considering the COVID/post-COVID supply chain issues. She and her team are incredibly organized and just good people, making it so easy to work with them.
My husband and I sometimes have to pinch ourselves to make sure we aren't living in a dream. Our house is now so inviting, not overly 'done' but also impressive to our guests. We look forward to enjoying it in our forever home. And who knows, maybe there is a "phase 3" in the coming years. Our first call will be to Kat, for sure!

“A friend recommended Kat Robbins to my wife and me after we sold our multi-story home of 22 years and downsized into a far smaller, single-floor condominium apartment in a gut-renovated school building. Our apartment -- with a large, open living/dining room and kitchen, two bedrooms and a "bonus" bedroom we have turned into a home office -- offered a blank slate for us to design a new living space. We already had a strong sense, with opinions to match, about what we like and don't like, but we knew we needed a design pro to help us focus and get things done.
From our first meeting with Kat, we knew we'd found the right person. Almost immediately, she picked up on what we were envisioning. She developed a design for a large wall system to store books, records, CDs, audio equipment and a large TV. Kat's design was almost spot-on: we had only a few suggestions, which she quickly incorporated into the design. She then connected with a cabinetry shop and oversaw their work, which was completed in a surprisingly short time.
With the wall system in place, we realized we wanted to replace many of our existing furnishings. Kat helped us find a large bookcase/entertainment cabinet for our guest bedroom, an oversized set of storage drawers for our entry hall, a fantastic mid-century dining room table and chairs, and a custom-built sectional sofa for our living room (which, like the wall system, was built and delivered in a very short time). She also found a carpenter to build a wall-mounted, wraparound work table for our office, and an upholsterer to repair a beloved but long-neglected mid-century chair.
With all the major work completed, we've continued to meet with her to fine-tune our new home.
